1. Access Advanced Boot Options in Windows 7, Vista, XP

To access the Advanced Boot Options menu in Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP, just press F8 as the Windows splash screen begins to load. Safe Mode is the most commonly accessed feature available on the Advanced Boot Options menu.

2. Access Advanced Startup Options in Windows 10, 8.1, 8

To access the Advanced Startup Options menu in Windows 10, Windows 8.1 or Windows 8, you could follow these two easiest steps.

Step 1. Hold down either Shift key while tapping or clicking on Restart, available from any Power icon.​ Wait until the Advanced Startup Options menu opens.

Step 2. Click the Start button > Settings > Update & security > Recovery > Advanced Startup > Restart now. Wait until the Advanced Startup Options menu opens.
