How to Fix Google Chrome Black Screen Issue in Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7
You open the Google Chrome browser as usual, but it shows a black screen on your Windows PC? Don’t be frustrated. Here are a couple of methods to help you fix the Google Chrome black screen problem in Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, or Windows 7.
1. Disable Browser Extensions to Fix Google Chrome Black Screen in Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7
Some specific extensions could lead to the Google Chrome black screen issue. You could disable your newly installed extensions and check whether the black screen is gone. Once you find out the extension that causes the black screen problem, you could try to reinstall it and check whether the Google Chrome black screen issue comes back. If yes, you’d better remove this extension.
2. Turn Off Hardware Acceleration
Google Chrome runs Hardware Acceleration by default to speed the page browsing experience. But it can trigger the black screen issue on Google Chrome once in a while. You could turn off the hardware acceleration.
Step 1. Open Google Chrome.
Step 2. Click Settings.
Step 2. Click Advanced and Chrome’s advanced Settings will be displayed.
Step 3. Uncheck the Use hardware acceleration when available option.
3. Reinstall Google Chrome
The final fix for the Google Chrome black screen issue is reinstalling Google Chrome. You need to uninstall the browser first and then reinstall it.

These solutions didn’t work for me because when I click on settings, the submenu does not appear. 🙂
It doesn’t work for me, either I try to go to Extensions, Settings, Flags, whatever i try to do inside Chrome is not working, or black screen appears or nothing happens, keeps loading, also reinstalling didn’t work
This is lame, you cannot see settings in chrome when it’s black. Giving up on Chrome. Google FAIL.
Google is installed without any extension , and black screen appears. do you mean to delete google immediately ? as the extension ( goole itself ) is causing black screen .
I’ve tried everything to make Chrome black screen work on my wifes laptop. The black screen will not let me see setting, so I can’t disable hardware ecceleration. This is after I’ve done the –disable-gpu” thing.
