How to Prevent Automatic Restarts in Windows 10 After Installing Updates
Many Windows 10 users complain that the system always automatically restarts unexpectedly after new updates are installed, no matter what kind of important work they are doing. They hope to prevent automatic restarts in Windows 10 after installing updates. Below is a guide that clearly shows you how to achieve this goal.
Prevent Automatic Restarts in Windows 10 After Installing Updates
To prevent automatic restarts in Windows 10 after installing updates, the first thing you need to do is disable Reboot in Task Scheduler. To do so, perform the following steps:
Step 1. Click Search and then type task scheduler to open Task Scheduler
Step 2. Select Task Scheduler Library
Step 3. Click Microsoft > Windows > UpdateOrchestrator
Step 3. Locate the Reboot file and right-click on it
Step 4. Select Disable
After you successfully disable Reboot, things haven’t been completed yet. You still need to stop all users and groups on your PC from accessing the Reboot file, so that the system won’t have the ability to enable it. Here’s how.
Step 1. Navigate to the path below:
C:\Windows\System32\Tasks\Microsoft\Windows\UpdateOrchestrator
Step 2. Locate the Reboot file, and take ownership over it
Sep 3. Head to Disable inheritance

Step 4. Click on Add > Select a principal > enter your username under Enter the object name to select > Check Names > OK
Step 5. You should see only permission now on the Advanced Security Settings page, and that one should be full control for your user account
Step 6. Click OK
