1. Hardware problems.

2. Graphics card drivers are damaged or expired.

3. Background programs interfere with the system’s processes.

4. The computer’s key system files are missing.

5. Windows upgrade.

Now that we have learnt about some causes of the white screen of death, let’s see how to fix it.

1. Check the external cable

This problem may be hardware related and the first thing we have to do is to check if all the connecting cables connected to the system are loose. This involves the HDMI or VGA connection cable connected to the monitor.

After pressing the power button and holding it for a few seconds to force the computer to shut down, check that the connecting cables are properly connected. We also recommend unplugging the connected USB peripherals as it is possible that the white screen is caused by a malfunction in one of the peripherals, and then restarting the computer.

2. Update the driver

Another common cause of a white screen is an outdated or corrupted graphics card driver. If the driver does not work properly, you will have problems using the associated hardware/software.

It is important to update the drivers, allowing your computer to handle third-party devices is an essential part of your system. This is a task you can leave to Driver Talent to automatically update all device drivers to the latest version, so leave your driver problems to a professional driver software to solve.

1. You can download and install Driver Talent on your computer.

Then you will see Driver Talent update your graphics card driver as well as  other outdated drivers easily and quickly for your computer.

3. Use System Restore

2: From the available list, choose Troubleshoot / Advanced options / System Restore.

3: Select your user account and enter your account’s password.

4: Click on Next.

5: If available, check to Show more restore points checkbox. Now select the desired restore point and click Next.

6: Then follow the instructions on the screen to restore your PC.

Once your PC is restored to a previous state, the error may be fixed, so feel free to give it a try.

4. Disable background applications

Background applications may also cause a white screen. If the white screen started after an application was installed, try uninstalling that application. If you don’t know which application is the problem, try to disable all unnecessary/third-party applications using Task Manager.

1. Type Task Manager in Windows Search and click Open.

2. Go to the Processes tab.

3. Right-click on the target application and select End Task.

end task

Another way is to start Windows in Safe Mode. when starting Windows in Safe Mode, only basic drivers and applications are available, which means that third-party applications are not available on it.

To enter Safe Mode, do the following:

1. Press the power button to restart the PC.

2. When the Windows log appears, hold the power button for a few seconds.

3. Repeat the process one more time. Upon the third restart, you should see a blue screen with several options.

4. Select Troubleshoot / Advanced options / Startup Settings and click the Restart button.

5. Once your PC restarts, select Safe Mode with Networking from the available list.

If this problem doesn’t occur in Safe Mode, then you can confirm that a third-party application is causing the problem. In this case, you can try uninstalling all newly installed applications that you think are suspicious.

5. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete

According to users, you can fix the white screen issue by simply using a keyboard shortcut. Some users claim that once a white screen appears, they can simply press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to fix the error. This keyboard shortcut probably solves the problem, so be sure to give it a try.

Keep in mind that this is probably just a workaround, so you will have to repeat this keyboard shortcut whenever the problem occurs.
